The islands cover an area of 193 square miles, with Grand Turk measuring 7 square miles and Providenciales being 37.5 square miles. CREDIT CARDS – Most major credit cards are accepted throughout the islands.

CURRENCY – The U.S. dollar is used as currency.

ELECTRICITY – 110 volt, 60 cycles, which is suitable for U.S. appliances.

TIME – The islands are on Atlantic Standard Time. This means that they are 1 hour ahead of New York and Montreal, 5 hours behind Frankfurt and Paris, 13 hours behind Tokyo, and 14 hours behind Sydney.

WHAT TO WEAR – Cool, casual, comfortable leisurewear is common everywhere. A hat and cover-up for extra protection is advisable. Swimwear worn other than poolside or at the beach is not acceptable. It is a rare occasion to need a light sweater at night and just a few restaurants require proper attire.
