British Virgin Islands Weddings
The British Virgin Islands are a British Overseas Territory located east of Puerto Rico consisting of over 50 islands and cays approximately 15 of which are inhabited.
The largest of the islands that make up the BVI is Tortola which is home to the BVI capital of Road Town. The characteristic that makes Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada, and Jost Van Dyke perfect choices for a Caribbean wedding is the number of secluded beaches on each island providing the perfect escape for the wedding couple. A British Virgin Island wedding is very unique.
For visitors looking for activities in addition to beaches, there is excellent shopping for spices, jams, rums, soaps and hand-crafted jewelry. Because of the reefs surrounding the islands the scuba diving and snorkeling are some of the best in the world. There's also horseback riding and sailing. The BVI islands are perfect for sailors because of their proximity to one another. You're rarely out of sight of land.
The reefs and surrounding waters are filled with fish that the local restaurants offer hungry visitors in a variety of dishes.
The islands offer a wide variety of resorts, from elegant to budget. There are others that are accessible only by boat. This provides the couple planning their Caribbean wedding with plenty of options for their guests and their own accommodations.
Regardless of which island you choose, be sure to visit Virgin Gorda's Baths, where huge boulders are arranged by nature to provide a myriad of rock pools, secret beaches, and trails. They provide a memory that will remain with you for life.
While in the BVI for a Caribbean wedding, partake of the local lobster which is rated by many knowledgeable travelers to be the best in the world.
There are few places in the Caribbean that offer such a combination of breathtaking views, palm fringed secluded beaches, spectacular waters, delicious cuisine, water-based activities, and warm and friendly people.
